Neural Networks, just new vocabulary or a necessity?

Ever liked an album suggested to you by Google Photos? Or used Skype’s translation function? You might not have realized it, but you are benefitting from neural network applications in your everyday life. A neural network is a system of hardware and/or software patterned after the operation of neurons in the human brain. Now, lots of commercial applications use this technology to mimic human intelligence and solve complex problems that require reasoning. Learning machines might not be as threatening as they are in sci-fi movies but they are not a joke either:)
